It's been a long, long time since I updated this blog, but I have still been buying and building both official and bootleg Brick sets, mainly focusing on the modular knock offs from the new defunct Lepin, with my eye on eventually putting together a small city to house all my vehicles and minifigs.
The Current Modular Lineup |
For my returning post, I will show you my modular collection as it now stands, as well as brief overview of my last purchase, the Detective's Office. This was my first set from LELE and after hearing mixed reports in their bricks, I was very impressed with the quality, It felt superior to some of my Lepin builds of the past and was a joy to build.
This set came in un-numbered bags, the same as the earlier Lepins do (Lots of sorting of parts!) and no printed instructions were included, I never checked to see if they'd sent the PDF version as claimed in the listing as the official ones are available for download from the LEGO website...
The Ground floor is my favourite part of any modular, I always enjoy tiling.. |
The only problem with PDF instructions is it's not always easy to discern the correct colour parts you should be using, especially with the many shades of blue and grey in this build. Some trial and error was involved here but I got there in the end...
The set contains a small pool hall and Barbers on the ground floor, and the Detectives office as well as his kitchen area and a bathroom on the upper floors.
Printed Window pieces are excellent Quality.. I love the brick built pool hall sign |
The finished building is great, There is some nice architectural detailing along the front of the roof and a very nice water tower build.
The set includes 6 minifigs of decent but not amazing quality, 2 pool hall patrons, a female Police officer, Al the Barber, the woman in red and Ace Brickman himself. the modular figs always come with generic smiley heads but one of these had a reversible head with expressions so I gave this to Ace, also included (and just about visible through the window) was a small cat who lives in the top floor (Ace's Kitchen area)
The gangs all here |
You can purchase your own copy of the LELE Detective's office from the same seller here
This is a great set, I've already ordered the Brick Bank from the same seller... I hope it's of the same quality. Check back soon for an update as I will be posting more regularly going forward.
Thanks for reading.
