LEGO 60007 - High Speed Chase (McCain!)

Today I'm taking a look at a 2013 set,  60007 High Speed Chase.

This CITY themed set contains 283 pieces which build into 3 vehicles and 3 minifigs, as well as a few other accessories for play, It originally retailed for £19.99, I picked up this used from good old fleabay for £7.49 minus a couple of minor pieces and with most of the stickers removed.

My main reason for purchasing this set was to get the Chase McCain minifig. Chase is the star of one of the better LEGO videogames in LEGO City Undercover, a game I thoroughly enjoyed playing back on the WiiU so I wanted him for my collection. (A newer version of Chase is also available in the similarly themed set 60138, currently available at retail)

The set arrived to me in a plain brown box, which contained a zip-lock bag crammed with all the parts as well as the 3 instruction manuals.

I wanted to build the open top sports car first. Construction is pretty straightforward, If you've built any CITY cars before, you know what to expect here. It went together in no time.

I really like the finished car, It looks striking in it's mostly red colour scheme, the black stripes and spoiler are a nice contrast. It has a single yellow seat for the driver and a standard yellow based steering wheel. There are no opening doors on the vehicle.

This is the robber's getaway car, I think for the vehicles original owner, the CMF series 14 yuppie is a perfect fit.

Next up I built Chase' car... the police Truck. This is a nice chunky 4x4 styled vehicle in white, dark blue and grey.

Even with the missing the stickers, this was quite clearly a police vehicle, even so I added some custom decals I got on an eBay sheet.  The light bar is made up of trans blue tiles and we have trans blue windows too. I really like the bigger chunky wheels on here as well as the bull bar at the front.

One of the stickers survived!

Again we don't have doors but we do get an opening boot with space enough for Chase' radio and handcuffs, The interior is a little cramped for more than one minifig.

The manual shows a red mug on the dash but this was one of the missing pieces, so Chase has a Costa Cup now (probably safer for driving!)

The last of the vehicles in this set is the police bike, there is not much in the way of construction to be done here, attach the bike to the frame and add a few pieces to the back and we are good to go. One of the 2 dark blue tiles with the police sticker was the other missing piece as stated in the original ebay listing. I've replaced this with a plain black tile for now.

Finally we come to the minifigs themselves, apart from Chase, we get an 'Elite Police' rider for the bike (with helmet) and the robber to drive the getaway car.

All the figs have print on both sides, Chase and the other officer have identical torso and leg pieces, all 3 figs only have single sided head prints. Both of the cops get a set of handcuffs and a radio piece, the robber gets 3 money tiles and a single gold bar.

A set of tire spikes, a police barrier and a traffic cone round out the accessories.

So all in all this is a great little set with a lot of play value, of course this is long since retired but is pretty readily available for cheap on the aftermarket.

If you want a Chase McCain of your own. The alternative is the previously mentioned set 60138 from 2017, which does much of what this set does but comes with a helicopter and police cruiser.

Thanks for looking and check back soon.
