BELA 10881 - Tron Legacy Light Cycles

The Game Has Changed!

Hello and welcome back to Block City Reviews.

Today we are taking a look at Bela's clone of the LEGO ideas set 21314. This is the Tron Legacy set based off Disney's underrated 2010 movie sequel. The 248 piece set contains a display base depicting a section of the game grid, 2 light cycle vehicles and 3 minifigs.

This is actually only my second ever purchase of a Bela set, the first being their clone of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine. I found that set to be a good quality build, unfortunately let down by a couple of poorly done minifigs, but that was quite a while ago.

Let's see if they've upped their game...

The manual shows Bela's other clone sets including more Disney properties.

Firstly, this is a very cheap set. It can purchased for around £8-£10 on Aliexpress, approximately a third of the cost of the LEGO original (An Amazon exclusive here in the UK.) Licensed LEGO sets always come at an extra premium, but I've always thought this one in particular, was one of the more overpriced sets. So I was glad to get to experience the build via this bootleg version.

The package took almost a month to get to me (Always an issue when buying smaller sets from Ali) And the outer bag contained 2 sealed bags of parts and the instruction manual.

The first part of the build is the brick constructed base, made of smaller plates and mostly covered with plain black and translucent blue tiles, this is nothing more than a display stand for the 2 light cycles. There are 4 jumper plates that are used to attach the vehicles.

The Base is built up of 3 layers

The main part of this set is, of course, the iconic light cycles themselves. We get 2 included here. These mostly black bikes are identical builds. One has Trans Blue parts and the other trans Orange.

The Small grey clips on top are handles for the rider.

These are small and actually fairly simple builds, The entire set took me less than 20 minutes. They are fairly reminiscent of similar sized vehicles I've built from both the Batman and Ninjago lines. After building the first one, the identical second build went together even faster. The Trans parts are the wheel discs, some cylinder pieces and the light trail that attaches to the rear of the vehicles. There are also some flat plates on the bike builds in their respective colours.

First cycle completed.

The orange cycle is Rinzler's bike, the villainous program is the antagonist for this set, he comes in an all black outfit with orange highlights, a black helmet, and a black neck connector which holds his 2 'Identity discs'  Which also have orange highlights. Under his helmet he has a pink head with a serious looking face print on one side.

The Blue light cycle is ridden by the movies hero, Sam Flynn. Sam's black outfit and Identity Disc are decorated with blue highlights. He has a 2 sided face with stern and smiley faced expressions, and a light brown, spiked hair piece. He also comes with a helmet with a trans blue visor but my copy of this is loose and will not stay attached.

I had to balance the visor in place to get a pic.

The third and final minifig in this set is Quorra, her outfit has blue highlights too, but does have some minor differences to Sam's (Including more skin on show!)  She comes with 2 sided face featuring smiling and serious looking expressions, and a black bobbed hair piece with a fringe. Quorra wields a standard katana sword for her accessory and also comes with her own Identity Disc.

Print quality on all 3 minifigs is superb. These are flawless, and as close to LEGO quality as I've ever seen in a clone set. Definitely a step up from my poorly printed Shaggy minifig from BELA's Mystery Machine.

As you can tell, I was very happy with my purchase of this set. It wasn't perfect. I was missing one piece, the opposite side to this small black sloped piece.

Not exactly a common piece... Disappointing but not out of the ordinary for a knock off set, I've replaced it with a different piece for now. But other than this one small omission, there is nothing else to complain about. This set is a great value proposition compared to the LEGO original and looks excellent on display.
