LEGO hidden side magazine - Issue 1 quick look

I wasn't planning on doing a second update this weekend, but this morning I picked up this magazine based on the new LEGO theme 'Hidden Side'

I'm not sure if these magazines are available in other territories, but there have been quite a few produced here in the UK. I've previously bought a Batman themed one (to get a movie styled Joker) and a City themed one which came with one cop and a robber. There are also Ninjago, Star Wars and Friends themed versions available.

They usually (but not always) come with minifigs. Sometimes you get a micro scaled vehicle or a small diorama instead.

The magazine retails for £3.99 which is £1 more than you will pay for a blind bagged CMF.

This first issue comes with a minifig of one of the main protagonists from this new theme. Ghost Hunter Jack!

The magazine cover describes Jack as Skater, Vlogger, Ghost Hunter! He comes with a 'selfie stick' (standard camera piece and a pole with a claw grip piece) as well as smart phone tile piece which features the image of a ghost.

Jack is decked in his varsity style jacket with his white hoodie and red and black cap. (The hood and hat is all one piece)

He has a 2 sided reversible head with a mischievous grin on one side and a more serious grimace on the other.

I dont believe this is an exclusive minifig. There are versions of Jack with most of the Hidden Side sets and a cursory glance shows that set 70424 Ghost Train contains the same fig.

The interior of the magazine is aimed squarely at the younger audience. These magazines are definitely not intended for AFOL's. We do get quick bios of the main characters in this theme. Puzzles and quizzes. And a comic strip broke into 3 sections telling of Jack moving to the town of Newbury and meeting the other characters.

The preview of issue 2 shows that the next minifig will be the 'Haunted Pizza boy' who does appear to be an exclusive so I will be picking up at least one more issue of this particular magazine.

Thanks for reading.
